About Brady Ajay
I built my first website in 1995 and have been working online ever since. My time at Sealworks, a boutique design studio, during the go-go Tech Boom (and after the stop-stop Tech Bust) taught me the craft of product design. In 2005, I started Leading Tone.
I worked with enterprises, agencies, and startups on projects for the University of Pennsylvania, Dow Jones, Johnson & Johnson, McGraw-Hill, Pfizer, Vanguard, Merck, Elsevier, Toyota, and UCLA Health. As the poker players say, I have seen a lot of hands: business models, constraints, design challenges, processes, projects, teams, and users. With each engagement, I improve my technique.
I love to solve the puzzle, simplify the complex, feng the shui, make it sing.
About Leading Tone
In music, the leading tone is the 7th note of the major scale. The 7th note is 1/2 step below the 1, or the Tonic. Home base. Resolution. The Tonic draws up the 7th. The 7th contains tension. It is active. It seeks resolution. As the keys change, so does the leading tone. At different times, any note can be the leading tone.
And so it is with successful collaboration. I’m a smart guy, but do not have the right answer all the time. I do seek it. It can come from anyone or anywhere. Sometimes you lead and sometimes you follow. Achieving resolution matters most.
